Personal Statement:
Throughout my professional journey, I’ve learned that great medicine is built on trust, compassion, and excellence. I believe the patient experience should extend far beyond the procedure itself. Every person deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported from diagnosis through recovery. While no physician can guarantee a perfect outcome every time, we can ensure that every patient receives evidence-based care delivered with empathy, honesty, and respect. These values form the cornerstone of my practice and the foundation of our center.
Although I initially planned to become a surgeon, I quickly discovered the extraordinary breadth of medicine and its many specialties. A chance introduction to Interventional Radiology through a close family friend revealed a young, innovative field that combined direct patient care, minimally invasive techniques, and advanced imaging to treat conditions throughout the body, often replacing the need for traditional surgery. After just one day of shadowing, I knew this was my path.
Combining innovative minimally invasive care with meaningful patient relationships is what motivates me every day.
My medical career spans more than 20 years and began at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA. After completing residency and fellowship at VCU, I joined the faculty, where I spent over a decade performing thousands of embolizations and advanced IR procedures in both children and adults. During this time, I developed expertise in women’s health, vascular anomalies, oncology, and venous disease, while also training the next generation of interventional radiologists.
Several years into my academic practice, I met Dr. John Lipman of the Atlanta Fibroid Center, whose outpatient model for uterine fibroid and adenomyosis embolization resonated deeply with me. I had begun to feel the strain of hospital-based practice, where growing demands left less time for meaningful patient interactions. His example showed me it was possible to deliver the same high-level care in a more personal, patient-centered environment.
In 2025, I left VCU to open an Interventional Radiology center in Richmond in partnership with Dr. Lipman, joined by my colleague and longtime friend, Dr. Adam McLaurin. Together, we are committed to delivering world-class, minimally invasive care to our community by combining advanced technology with the compassion, connection, and personal attention every patient deserves.
